LineSwap

LineSwap

A drawing challenge game where one simple line turns into a shared picture.

LineSwap — LineSwap

LineSwap started with a simple idea: give someone a single line and see what they make of it. It is a drawing challenge game for all ages, built first for kids, to turn screen time into something creative. LineSwap is a Legacy Co. project, made in partnership with AKA Creations, and its first version shipped in 2024. It shows how we take an idea from a sketch to a brand, an app, and a pitch.

The Idea

Players start with one line and build it into a drawing. They can play alone against the app's robot or challenge friends, then share and download what they made together. The goal was simple fun that sparks imagination, with fewer of the distractions that fill most kids' apps.

The Brand

The name needed to feel like a game before anyone read a word. Amick Cutler designed the logo: "Line" in hot pink script over a chunky teal "SWAP," sitting on a glossy white speech bubble with a pencil tucked behind it. The app icon tells the story in one picture: a looping line drawing, with pink arrows swapping around it. Around that sits a full kit: a rounded typeface, a pink and teal palette, intro animations, a countdown, button sounds, and a music bed.

The App

Our founder KC Clark designed the screens, mapping the whole player journey:

  • Pick a mode: single player against the robot, or multiplayer with friends from your contacts.
  • Send a challenge: an invite screen that waits for a friend to accept.
  • Draw: a clean canvas with brushes, colors, and a three-minute timer.
  • See who won: both drawings side by side, with replay and share.

Taking It to Tables

Restaurants were a natural fit. Families order, then wait. In 2024 we pitched LineSwap for restaurant tablets, the kind that sit on the table for ordering and paying, so diners could play a round while their food was on the way. We designed QR screens for the pitch that invite guests to scan and take the game home with them. The pitch did not turn into a deal. We also pitched the idea to other tableside ordering companies and to an online art club for kids.

Outcome

LineSwap shipped its first version in 2024, with a brand that has real personality and a complete app flow from first line to final share. The work also gave us a habit we still use: look for where people actually are when they're bored, and meet them there. The same thinking now shapes the products we build for clients.
