Headstone, a joint ventureHeadstone
The headstone.app online store, and now a live 3D designer that sends a family's memorial to the cart.

Headstone sells memorials online from Pensacola, Florida. We have worked with them twice. From 2020 to 2022 we built the original headstone.app, their online store. Years later, the 3D viewer on their product pages stopped loading and left an empty box where families expected to see their stone. So we came back and built the 3D Designer as its own app, now live at design.headstone.app.
The Problem
Choosing a headstone is a slow, careful decision, usually made in a hard season. A family wants to see the stone before they commit: the shape, the granite, the name set in the right letters. A blank viewer and a crossed-out "How does it work" note made that harder at the exact moment it should feel simple.
The App
We built the designer in plain HTML and Three.js, so it loads fast and runs on a phone as well as a desktop. Every choice updates the 3D stone live:
- Style and size: upright, slant, flat marker, bevel, flat with bronze, and ledger, in seven top shapes from straight to heart.
- Who it's for: one person, two people on one stone, or two stones on one base with the family name below.
- Stone and finish: granite colors drawn from Headstone's own swatches, rock pitch or polished sides, and frosted, black, or gold leaf lettering.
- Details: symbols, a porcelain photo, laser etching from an uploaded picture, a granite base, and a vase.
The catalog behind it is Headstone's real one. All 87 products and their prices come straight from the store, so the price at the bottom of the screen matches what a family will pay.
The Brand Fit
The designer looks like it was always part of headstone.app. It uses their logo, their black header, their gold buttons, and their type, with one small change: we darkened the gold so the button text stays readable.
The Store Connection
A design is only useful if it can become an order. We wrote a WordPress plugin for their WooCommerce store. When a family clicks Add to Cart, the designer sends a rendered picture of their stone, the full list of choices, and a link back to the 3D design. That picture replaces the stock photo in the cart, at checkout, in the order emails, and in the shop's admin, so the team sees exactly what was ordered. Product pages also get a "Design in 3D" button that opens the designer on that product.
Families can also save a picture, share a link to the design, download a 3D file, or ask for a proof.
Outcome
Headstone's customers can design a memorial themselves, see it from every side, and know the price before they talk to anyone. The shop gets orders that arrive with a picture and a spec attached, instead of a stone and a guess. The store we built first now has a designer to match: real products, real prices, and a tool that fits the brand it serves.
