Brand Discipleship Use Case: Becoming Through Motion — Identity Before Perfection

My journey didn’t follow a straight line.

I started as an illustrator. Then I stepped into worship ministry. That opened the door to building a creative agency. Now, I walk with leaders as a coach and consultant.

Every assignment stretched me. Every season required something new. But it was never about “figuring it all out”—it was about becoming the kind of person who could carry the next thing.

I wasn’t changing identities—I was growing deeper into the one God gave me from the beginning.

What Holds Most People Back?

Perfection.

Especially for those wired like the Enneagram 1 (I see you), the temptation is to wait for the “right thing”—the perfect path, the complete plan, the ideal version of your idea—before taking the next step.

But here’s the truth I tell my clients (and myself):

“Done is better than perfect.”
“The next right thing is often the next available thing.”

We aren’t called to paralysis by analysis. We’re called to movement rooted in identity and anchored in peace.

“An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another object.”
And in the Kingdom, that “object” is usually the hand of God redirecting your path, not scolding you for taking the first step.

Spiritual Motion ≠ Striving

This isn’t a call to hustle or make impulsive decisions. Faithful stillness matters, listening matters. Seeking God matters.

But if it doesn’t contradict scripture…
If you have peace from God…
If it aligns with who He’s made you to be…

Then you don’t need to wait.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
—Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

He often directs us as we move.

Biblical Proof of This Principle

You grow by becoming—not by perfect planning.
“And we all… are being transformed into his image…”—2 Corinthians 3:18

You adapt without losing your identity.
“I have become all things to all people…”—1 Corinthians 9:22

God gives direction in motion.
“Go, and I will help you speak…”—Exodus 4:12
“By faith Abraham… obeyed and went, even though he didn’t know where he was going.”—Hebrews 11:8

Your steps are part of His plan.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”—Proverbs 16:3
