Project Create DCProject Create
A bright, easy-to-use website for a Washington, DC arts nonprofit that offers free classes to kids and families.

Project Create is a community arts nonprofit in Washington, DC. For 30 years it has offered free art classes, art therapy groups, workshops, and open studio time to children, youth, and families, both at its own arts center in Anacostia and at partner sites across the city. The team had a bold new brand identity, designed by Gensler, but their old website was not up to the job and did not match it. Legacy Co. rebuilt the website from the ground up using their existing brand.
The Website
We wireframed every page of the new site, then built it in WordPress with the brand's deep blue, warm yellow, and bright orange-red at the center. The bold logo and shapes give every page energy, and clear buttons keep the next step in plain sight.
- Home opens with the current semester and a Register Now button, then shares the mission and a full grid of programs.
- Our Programs gives each kind of class its own card, from studio classes at the arts center to art therapy, Family Art Day, workshops, and training for teachers.
- About Us holds the mission, vision, and values, along with the staff, teaching artists, and board.
- Join Us makes it easy to teach, partner, volunteer, or intern, each with its own Apply button.
- News & Events and Donate keep families informed and give supporters a simple way to give.
Built for the Team
Classes change every semester, so we built the site for the people who run it. The team can post a new semester, add events, and share student spotlights on their own. Years later, they still keep it current, and every page works just as well on a phone as on a laptop.
